INTERIORS AND THE ABSTRACT ART OF S NOEL

Everything about art is important to a well curated interior.   When chosen spontaneously art adds an interesting dimension to a room. When chosen with deliberation it can add drama and sophistication that rewards the viewer every time they step into the space.

I think we should always pay attention to and include art in our interiors. Buy unknown artists originals – some day they may be the well known artist.  Choose works by up and coming artists whose works may be mid level pricey but much less than a Kara Walker silhouette or a Jeff Koons balloon dog.

S Noel, is a dynamic artist influenced by Willem de Kooning, Joan Mitchell, Terry Winters and Cy Twombly.  She is best known for her abstract expressionism but also works in clay.  Currently  represented at the Saks Gallery in Denver, S Noel’s work is expressive and vibrant, rich in color and texture and alive with shapes and marks.

As a child, Sara’s mother enrolled her in summer art classes and always had art materials on hand to be used as a creative outlet.  She shuffled Sara and her siblings off to museums and art galleries in San Francisco and Berkeley, CA where Sara was raised.  The California coast line is a subject in her works. Also subject in her works are landscapes such as Giverny and color interactions that create compositions.

For Sara the creative process is about jumping in, getting stuck or not, and pushing through.

Some canvases are simply painted over and reworked until they are where they need to be.
